Complex Hierarchical Design with Rooms and Design Replicate

Hello,

I have a complex hierarchical design, with many identical channels, which I would like to designate into rooms on my PCB. The channels were created by using hierarchical blocks that all reference the same schematic. However, when I descend the hierarchical block of say, channel 1, and change the property "Room" on the parts in that schematic to have the value "CH1", this changes the Room property for all the similar parts in the other channels.  The goal is to go to Allegro and quick place by room, and place CH1.  I will then route channel 1, replicate, and then place CH2, and use design replicate reuse.

So yeah, my problem is: how do you have many channels, each in a different room if they refer to the same schematic page?

My current and decent solution is to quickplace by schematic page, which does pretty much exactly what I want, except all the components are not placed in the room to begin with.  I am perfectly content with this solution, but thought someone might be able to provide me with deeper insight for the sake of learning.

Thank you.

If you look at the properties of the part you will see a white column and multiple yellow columns. This is the difference between instance properties and occurrence properties. (If you don't see the yellow columns click the + icon next to the page name in the top of the white column). The Yellow columns will list the different channels and you can add different room properties to each part. If you look on the cadence support site there is a good app note on instances v occurrences.
