Searching for reference designators using wildcards in OrCAD Capture

Hi,

In OrCAD Capture, I cannot figure out how to search for certain components in my schematic such as resistors.  For example, I put the following string in the search field, "R*".  When I click the search button (the binoculars), I get all kinds of elements I don't want, such as other components, pins, nets etc.  The desired result is that only resistors are highlighted.  I tried turning off all the check marks in the search customization menu except for "parts" but I still get elements I don't want.  I tried using the string "REFERENCE=R*" and checking the Property Name=Value menu option but that just yields nothing.

I want to be able to highlight and then edit only resistors (or capacitors if I search for "C*", etc).  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?  Thanks in advance.

Searching for r* with Parts is going to get "any" Part with a property that starts with R which is likely not what you want. Set the Search Options for Highlight, Property Name=Value and Parts, set the search string for reference=r* and left-click on the 'binos', seems to work fine for me. This function may well have been tweaked since the original 16.6 release so check that you are running a recent hotfix.
