Unable to create Linear Dimension

Under Manufacter->Dimension/Draft-->Linear Dim

1)Pick a point

2)Pick second point

3)Pick a location for dimension value

After step 3 a numerical value showing up on screen, however, rich handed mouse and clicked done , the whole thing gone.

I thought when I hit Done it should display that dimension value!  What's wrong? why disappear when hit Done?

    You sure you have the layer visible that the dimension went on.   Speaking from experience it is very easy to have that go to the wrong layer.  Turn on all layers to make sure it didn't go somewhere you didn't expect.

    hi, well it's a Board Geometry Class and Dimension subclass. I don't see anything under Visibility section I need to turn on. I see my board outline and the linear dimension is same class as outline. So they are all visible.

    Check the Options tab.  This is where it defines what CLASS/SUBCLASS the dimension is going to be on.  That is usually where I get burned if I forget to check.

    I don't see any box to check , it just lists Board Geometry as class and Dimension as subclass.

    No box to check, but the CLASS/SUBCLASS can be changed.  If it is showing BOARD GEOMETRY/DIMENSION in the options tab, do you have that layers CLASS/SUBCLASS visible in your view?  Again, I would turn on all the layers and check to see if it inadvertently got placed on another layer that is not visible on your screen.
