Reuse the same circuit in multiple PCB designs

I have created the memory circuit as a module from 8 Layer Stack-up and i want to reuse the module in the 2 Layer Stack-up as well as i need to follow the Refdes sequences as per my current design. While bringing the module to the current design the tool ask me to provide prefix for the entire circuit( for Ex. *_U1,etc...) and i cannot be able to rename the Refdes. Can any one of you explain me the procedure to rename the module Refdes.

Refdes cannot be duplicated of the same name since it will create errors on the net data.
