Cannot Place part manually in Orcad 16.6 Pcb editor

{NEW TO ORCAD]

I can netlist (with the usual renaming warnings) and open the netlist in Orcad PCB. I get a (correct) list of parts when I go to Place/Manually - but there's no Quickview preview and I can't place anything. I can check the parts but then when I hit ok Its just blank. There should be an error message to hint what's wrong - but I don't know where to look (netrev.lst is "clean" with no error/oversight/warning detected). Very, very frustrating!

After netlist i can see a new.brd file but its just waste. I cant place anything. Plz i need to get done with a project within 2 weeks and this thing is just eating me.

Any Instant help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Deep.

    Hi All

I have same problem as that in my schematic i included the 6 pin connector. After creating netlist i placed all the component but white placing 6 pin connector nothing was happening. In command line the message was showing can't load symbol conn6xx (this is the PCB Footprint name). while using quick place in place option it was showing the error  component should not be placed. I was trying from every side I am little bit new in orcad . so i don't know so much. can you tell me how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Check the location of your pcb footprints to make sure that you have a part called conn6xx.psm. If it's there then you need to say exactly what the command line says in PCB Editor when you try and place this part. There will be more information than what you say.

    Hello Steve

Thanks first of all for giving the response.

I have checked this one . In pcb footprint the name was given conn6.psm in place conn6xx.psm . i changed it now in pcd editor in place part when i click this connector then this was showing in the graphics icon but while dragging in the pcb editing design it was not drag onto the pcb editor page. and in command line it was showing

    Placing J1 / CON6_CONN6_CON6 / CONN6 on Top.

Select elements to place using tree view.

E- (SPMHGE-82): Pin numbers do not match between symbol and component. Run dev_check on device file for more information.

I am not understanding that how this is showing 8 pin in place of 6 pin. in my schematic design i chose con6/connector. but while taking this in pcb editor it is showing 8 pin. can you please tell me how to solve this problem.
