Can Allegro 16.6 export PCBs to IGES files?

i know that it can export step files.can it export iges as well?

    Allegro 16.6 does not have the ability to export IGES.  If you need to create an IGES, then you can bring it in as STEP and pretty much any of the mechanical CAD tools out there that can read STEP can save-as IGES.

    However, there are some drawbacks to IGES.  One, and probably the biggest reason why Cadence hasn't worked on it is that IGES does not support assemblies.  When you bring data in from EDA to MCAD, it normally comes in with a 2D drawing of your board, and your physical models placed on that board at some X,Y location and at a given rotation.  So, you have all of your components as separate entities.  IGES would have to be one big monolithic assembly, which the MCAD tools will be much more proficient at handling.  Here's a good article regarding the differences between IGES and STEP: http://blog.grabcad.com/blog/2014/10/14/get-over-iges/
