Allegro footprint apa102c was not found in the search path.

Hi,

I'm trying to link a footprint with a part in Capture but I'm running into the error in the title. I tried editing the psmpath in the Environment Editor like I've seen people suggest on other posts with the same issue but that didn't help.

My path is "C:\Users\eoswald\Documents\Project\board\PackageLibrary" and inside my PackageLibrary folder I have:

  • apa102c.dra
  • apa102c.log
  • apa102c.psm

In the field "PCB Footprint" in the part/package properties window I have just the string "apa102c".

Is there anything else that needs to be in there to link the footprint or is something else the issue?

Thanks!

Hi Eric. Check the padpath variable as well. As with the psmpath, it should point to where you have located the pads used for the land pattern.

Thanks for the reply! That package used pads that were in one of the OrCAD libraries. I checked again and the directory they are in is still included in the padpath.

Are there pads in the land pattern - or shapes used for pads - missing in the library? Are the pins the same on the land pattern, as what is in the schematic?

It only uses one type of pad (smd60rec40) and that is in the library. Do the pin names need to be the same or just the numbers? My footprint doesn't have corresponding pin names.

The pin names do not need to match. It is the pin numbers that are key. If you have the land patterns' PAD and PSM in your psmpath and padpath then it will work. There must be some other reason why it is failing. Can you try to bring in the part manually, without the netlist? Do you know how to do that? If it comes in this way, then you have an issue with your netlist.
