Difference between Allegro Design Entry and Allegro Design Capture

I've worked with Allegro HDL since way before it was called that. I'm new to OrCAD / CIS. I've been told to use Allegro Design Entry CIS, but everything including tutorials are referencing Design Capture. What is the difference? I've searhed for a comparison or description of differences and can't find anything. Will the tutorials also apply to Design Entry? I've been told that even though we are using CIS we aren't actually implementing the CIS database side of things.

I've just had a discussion with a more experienced user, and have slightly more insight. I am working with the Cadence SPB suite, which includes Allegro Design Entry CIS and also Allegro Design Capture. These may or may not be different from similarly named tools that are part of alternate suites. I can jump between these two tools, and the menus appear to be exactly the same. What is the difference? Can I use training on Capture to learn about Entry CIS, which does not appear to have any specific tutorials, etc.?

From a drawing perspective the tools are the same.  The CIS tool however adds the "place database part" feature which allows a company to map its internal part numbers and properties via database to schematic symbols and pcb footprints.

If you have CIS I suspect it's because you wanted that feature.  There are a lot of docs included that talk about how to set up CIS and use Part Manager for BOM control.

If you want tutorials on how to place parts and connect wires etc. then yes, just follow the Capture tutorials.
