Allegro Package symbol wizard

Hi,

I created a QFP package footprint using symbol wizard and I also provided default padstack to use. Now that i'm trying to use that footprint in pcb design it shows me all the pins overlapping eachother. Also they changes from horizontal to vertical and vice-e-versa . And then it says the DRC error. I tried creating different padstack and creating symbol pacakage 2-3 times, but same result. Am I missing something? Please advice.

Thanks

It sounds like the local Allegro board file has a cached copy of the padstack in use that has a different definition than you used in the symbol.

Allegro caches all padstacks and symbols natively.  Any new padstacks are ignored if found in the cache.  Any changes to padstacks need to be refreshed through the update process.

One quick test is to generate a completely random padstack name for the pad and then replace it in the symbol.  Regen the symbol and bring it back into a new board.  Does it work correctly?  It should.  If not, write back here.

    Hi,

I tried your solution. I created a random pad with random size and created the QFP footprint with new pad. Same error was shown again.I really dont know why pads are chanign from vertical to horizontal when i place the footprint into pcb baord. Since this component is from TI MSP430F233T, i believe the standard footprint should be available. Is there any "go to" place where most people go to download standard packages? Please advice.

The DRC error says "SMD pin to SMD pin spacing".

Could you post a zip with the Symbol? TI has symbols on theIr website if you want to play with them. There are no communities of symbols out there.  And remember you get what you pay for.

    Go to http://webench.ti.com/cad/

Type in "MSP430F" and Symbols and Footprints will appear.

You need to download the Ultra Librarian tool. It will export the Footprint in Allegro format
