Dimensions disappear when associated feature changes layer.

Dear Allegro Developers,

Edited:

I am not looking for a solution here; this is more of a bug report.

Say a board file conatins a linear dimension measuring a symbol feature such as a rectangle. If you change the layer of the feature in the symbol file and refresh the symbol in the board file, the associated dimension disappears.  I have to redraw the dimension all over again.

Why can't the dimension follow the feature it is measuring?  The loss of the dimension element seems like a bug to me or, at least, a very undesirable feature.

The forum is not the best place for this. Go to Cadence Online Support (or the Channel Partner you bought the software from) and file a case for R & D to look at this - but with that being said I've just tried this and say I have a shape on Board Geometry / Soldermask_Top that is dimensioned I can hover over the shape and change it to Board Geometry / Silkscreen_Top and the dimension stays where it is. What version of software are you running ?

Thanks for your kind advice, Steve.  For what it's worth, I updated the post to better describe the problem; the problem happens when I change the feature's layer in the symbol and then update the symbols in the board file.  Nevertheless, our vendor is EMA Design Automation; I will contact them about this issue.  My apologies to all if this posting was inappropriate
