Altium Design 14.3 to Orcad Capture 16.6 .sch conversion issue

Hi Champs,

I am new to Cadence Orcad and I'm running into file translation issues. I see similar questions have been asked but I wasn't able able to solve the issue following those answer threads. Here are the steps I have followed:

1. I have converted at .schdoc (Altium file) to Orcad SDT schematic (.sch) file. The schematic has been converted successfully because Mentor's Logic was able to open the .sch file.

2. I went to Orcad and tried opening the .sch file. At first Orcad tries saving it as .dsn file. Then it gives me the following error and warnings:

ERROR(ORCAP-21103): Translation Notice.

Errors(s) encountered. Please check session log.

WARNING(ORCAP-21004): Unable to load the primary SDT Configuration file: 'C:\Users\a0225328\Desktop\PDS\Compatibility Exercise\SDT.CFG'.
WARNING(ORCAP-21011): Window's environment variable 'ORCADPROJ' is not set.
WARNING(ORCAP-21004): Unable to load the primary SDT Configuration file: 'SDT.CFG'.
ERROR(ORCAP-21102): Translation failed.
ERROR(ORCAP-21103): Translation Notice.
Error(s) encountered. Please check the Session Log.

I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

Best regards,

Rifat

You have the schematic in DOS format and no local libraries generated for it so Capture won't be able to open and translate that data, you will only get "wires" and no parts. I believe that there is an Export option which will generate a "more complete" DSN format file but that will likely be in a pretty ancient Capture format as well.
