Assigning Manufacturer/Vendor/PN to created parts

Hi all,

This is probably very simple, but I can't find the answer anywhere.

I've created a few symbols in OrCAD, and their associated footprints in Allegro to use in designs. I'd like to assign manufacturer / manufacturer PN / vendor / vendor PN to the part itself, so whenever I use it in any design it is automatically part of the bill of material. Right now, I have to add the info in every time.

Again, I'm sure this is very simple but I am having no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using CIS?  If so then this information is populated into the database and is retrieved during the BOM phase.

Otherwise, just add the custom property name and value to the symbol in the library.  The information is sticky and can be used in output reports.

There is also an old-school method without CIS that uses an external property file that gets read in during BOM generation. Very tedious and non-intuitive for beginners.

Thank you VERY much @redwire  that worked like a charm. I figured there would be a more straightforward, integrated way of doing it but adding the info in as custom fields works too.

    Have a great day!
