Changing Artwork Name

I have been trying to change my artwork layer names. The manual shows the following but that does not work. Any ideas ?

Film Name: Displays the name of the film record to be edited. You cannot edit this field from this dialog box. You must change the field on the Film Control tab of the Artwork Control Form dialog box by clicking twice on the film name.

Hmmm...the manual is correct.  What is not working?  You are in the Artwork menu and not trying to edit the Visibility names, correct?

I am in the Artwork control form under domain. Not sure what you mean by visibility.

I want to change a gerber file name for example BOTTOM_ASSEMBLY. I double click on that and it bring up the class/subclass for that gerber file. It does not allow me to edit the gerber file name.

You are in the wrong place, the Domain Selection only allows you to set what each artwork can do. Go to Manufacture - Artwork (or Export - Gerber Parameters in 16.6-2015) - Film Control tab and you can edit the names there.

I am on 16.6-2015. If I go to Manufacture Artwork/Film/control tab brings up the artwork control form.  It show available films and the domain section. Not sure where you are looking. Also I do not see Export/gerber/parameters.

You are in the correct place, as long as you can see all the artwork layers.

Click once on a Gerber/artwork name, then slowly click a second time - not a double mouse click.  The name should now be ready for you to change it.  There is no other way to change the name, as far as I know.  Even if you click-select the name with the RMB, you will not see a "rename" option.
