Connecting SMD pin pad to GND copper plane

Hi,

I have all the components placed and routed on the board. Now for mechanical mounting purpose I have two SMD pin pad on the bottom layer(its 2 layer board). Now I'm supposed to connect this pin to GND plane (copper pour) using full contact. I searched through the forum and found few option to try but they didnt work. I have following questions.

- My mechanical pin is not assigned to any net name, so does that means I can not connect it to GND copper pour?

- Is there a way to assign a net name to SMD pin, if it doesnt not exist in the schematic?

Thanks

If its got an actual pin/pad for a heat sink, I'd assign it a real pin in the schematic.

Allegro is a netlist driven tool.  For that reason if you want to connect a pin to a net then it needs to be in the netlist.

There are tricks that some may offer but let's start with the basics.

One thing you can do is define the SMD pin as a via in the physical constraint set. Then you can connect the pin as you would a via.
