upgrade projects from Orcad 9.2 to Orcad 16.6

Frankly, I am new to PCB layout and ORCAD as well. I would appreciate it very much if anyone would give me some input on this.

I have PCB layout projects and schematics designed in ORCAD 9.2. Now I started using Orcad 16.6, and I need to update these projects: replace components that are obsolete with new components. Can anyone tell me how to upgrade these projects into an Orcard 16.6 version with the updated components? would it be possible to sync the schematics and the PCB layout projects and have any changes in the schematics reflect on the PCB layout. If so how can I proceed with this?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Steve! I just figured out this these errors I am getting are generated only when I select CHECK DADABASE BEFORE ARWORK on the Artwork Control Form window. Do I need to have CHECK DADABASE BEFORE ARWORK selected in order for me to generate correct Gerber files? Thanks again!

Try a Tools - Database Check, check all the options and click on Check. Once complete click on Viewlog to see if they are resolved. They should be fixed before you generate your Gerber....

Hi Steve! Thanks for the help. I need to create an assembly drawing top and bottom for my board on Orcad 16.6, how can I do that? also would it be possible for me to add tables as a fabrication note to my design. Also when I add text as a fabrication note, which class and subclass I have to select. Thanks a a lot Steve!

One more thing: I need to create a drill chart, I need to count the number of drill I have and then categorize them based on their diameter. Is is possible? Thanks

For Assembly there is a layer Package Geometry / Assembly_Top and _Bottom which should already have outlines. The refdes should also be on Components / Assembly_Top and _Bottom. For notes and details there is a Board Geometry / Assembly_Notes and _Details. You can create drawing borders or Drawing Format / Outlines. For Drill Legend look at Manufacture NC Customization and NC Drill Legend to place the drill table.
