estimate inductance of PCB trace?

Hello,

Does PCB Designer have the ability to calculate/estimate inductance of a trace / traces?

I am trying to implement a capacitor decoupling network for an IC. I can choose the capacitor value, but the inductance is determined by the PCB trace, via structure, stackup thickness, etc. If PCB Designer can estimate the inductance of the traces between IC and capacitor, then I can calculate the resonance frequency, and make it the same as the clock frequency.

Thanks,

Yes.  It requires the correct license level.  If you have the license it's under Display->Parasitic.

You need at least an Allegro PCB Designer license to see the command but you can run a report to get the information with "any" license, Tools>Reports (Export>Reports for OrCAD 2015), New / Edit, set the Database View for Net and look for Net_Name, Net_Name_Sort, Net_Inductance and so on to add to your report, this will be for the overall net, you can get more details using the "SEG_" fields for Segments, rather than for, or as well as, the entire net values. Save your report as a TXT file, board directory is default and the saved Report will be listed as "<report_name>.txt" at the bottom of the "Reports" list for Tools>Reports, this can then be run like any other report.
