Unable to place database part using query

Hello,

I managed to setup a database in OrCAD Capture CIS and I can place components using place database components and components selected in the explore tab.

But when I try to use the query tab, I get a WARNING(ORCIS-6086): SCHEMATIC PART field is blank.

The field is indeed blank in the visibility windows but not in the component selection window (see screenshot attached with the same component in the explore and query tab).

Any idea how to solve this problem ?

Thanks

I suspect that you may have some issues with the structure of your database and the mapping between the database and the OrCAD Capture properties, for example, you have a field named Table and a Value for that field of Capacitor, typically the database would contain a table named Capacitor and the Capacitor parts would be stored within it. Also the Query results in a number of fields being listed that have no data, like Distributor and Manufacturer related fields that are not listed in your "browse results". Take a look at the Bench sample database provided in the installation for some idea of what a "base" database would look like.

    Thank you for your answer.

Here is an extract of my database. I think it looks very similar to the Bench sample database. Can you see anything wrong in it ?

If it' isn't the database, I guess it's most likely the mapping. Is it linked to the Configure Database step in Option / CIS COnfiguration / Setup ?

As my initial error mentioned the blank Schematic Part, is the problem related to the greyed out cells for this line ?

The "devil" will be in the details of the data, rather than pictures of it, can you attach the database (or sample of) and the DBC file that you have configured for it? Also, which exact version are you running? Check from Help>About OrCAD Capture CIS.

Close Capture CIS down, locate your capture.ini file (<your_Install_dir>\tools\capture\) and delete it then restart Capture CIS, a new one will be created, You'll need to browse for your DBC file again and also setup the Part Library Directories but that should resolve your query issue.
