Capacitive touch Slider/ Interlaced patterned rotary sensors.

Dears,

In one of my capsense design I need to implement the rotary slider (five segments). How can i recreate the same in PCB editor? Attached is for 3 segments a reference.

Need your valuable inputs,

Many Thanks

Looking at the design I do not think it will be possible to create this simply in the PCB editor as it uses a complex copper shape.
The best thing you can try is to design the pattern using a CAD package like AutoCAD, export a DXF, then import this as a custom copper area. This should get the gaps and shape correct for a reliable footprint.

It looks like 3 exactly the same shapes.

With this assumption, the way I would approach this issue:

1 Create a shape in Solidworks (sorry if you don't have) or Auto CAD.

    2. Export  shape as a DXF

    3. Import into Allegro as a shape symbol

    4. Create a pad using the shape from shape symbol save.

    5. Create a new footprint from the pad.

This is where you can rotate and add a via.

    Good luck.
