Pspice maximum step size question

Hi there,

I am doing traisent analysis in ORCAD Pspice 16.3. Two questions:

1. In "Simulation Setting" dialog box, the "Maximum step size" is usually defualt to be blank ,then what is the default step value set by cadence?

2. In some other prject, I've seen step size set as {SCHEDULE(0,1000ns,2.5m,25ns,6m,15ns)}, what soes this "schedule" function means?

Thanks a lot !

    1. In the original (Berkeley) spice source it is defined as: (TSTOP - TSTART)/50
    2. You can schedule some simulation parameter changes at predefined time intervals such as smaller time step where the signal changes rapidly.
    .OPTIONS <Parameter Name>= {SCHEDULE(<time-value>, <parameter value>, <time-value>, <parameter value>, …)}

    hi tltoth,
    if I use {SCHEDULE(<time-value1>, <step value1>, <time-value2>, <step value2>, …)}, what does that exactly mean?
    From time=0 to time-value1 the simulation will use step value1 , and from time-value1 to time-value2, the simulation will use step value2. Is this understanding correct?
    By the way, is there some txt I could found explanation about all the setting parameters in ORCAD pspice?
    Thanks a lot!

    You can find a clear explanation of sheduling simulation parameters in the PSpice User Guide. (pspug.pdf)

    ...

    .OPTIONS RELTOL={SCHEDULE( 0s,.001,2s,.005)}

    indicates that RELTOL should have a value of 0.001 from time 0 up to time 2s, and a value of 0.005 from time 2s and beyond

    (that is: RELTOL=.001 for t, where 0 <= t < 2s, and RELTOL=.005 for t, where  t >= 2s).

    ....
