How Can see PCB footprint in OrCAD Schematic?

Hi,

For some components I am using in schematic I see a button indicating that I can see its Footprint symbol. However, nothing happens when I press that button. I am wondering if it is possible to see the PCb footprint of a symbol in OrCAD Schematic or not? Below picture:

I appreciate any help,

Hossein

This is an OrCAD Layout button which went end of life a long time ago. If you have 16.6 you can select a part once placed and choose right click - Show Footprint which will show a 3d kind of view of the footprint in question if the paths are setup correctly (). In 17.2 this option has gone away so there is a tcl file that can be used. Save the attached file and put it in %HOME%\cdssetup\OrCAD_Capture\17.2.0\tclscripts\capAutoLoad then restart Capture, select a part and choose right click - More - View Footprint0508.capFootprintViewer.zip

I have 16.6. you mean it is not working in 16.6? I don't have 3D model of my footprints either. Will it still work for that?

The OrCAD Layout footprint viewer (the one you posted a question about) will only work if you are using OrCAD Layout and more than likely you are using OrCAD PCB Designer since OrCAD Layout's last version was 16.2. In 16.6 try selecting the part and then right click - Show footprint and you will see a 3D View (it's not a true 3d View but an equivalent based on the place_bound shape and pins of the footprint). If you look in the app note link I sent you should get the general idea...
