Hi

I am currently use 16.6 and want to explore 17.2 but I don't want to give up 16.6 yet because I don't to stop my work flow.

Is there the way that I can install both versions on my PC and switch back and forth as I needed.

Thanks,

Regards,

Tibo

Yes. This is common practice and Cadence has tools to allow you to seamlessly switch between versions.

Could you tell me a little more? What tools do I have to use?
    Thanks

Look at switchversion.pdf in your tools/bin folder.

You don't need the SwitchVersion any longer since 17.2 doesn't rely on the environment settings to run. You can set the environment, with the SwitchVersion after installing 17.2, to run 16.6 and then start either version from the Start menu without further changes.

This is not entirely true. If you take advantage of Windows file associations such as when you double click on a brd file in Explorer it will open the Allegro executable, you still need switchversion to modify the association to the desired release.
