How to make shape to attach to pads

Hi, 

I'm trying to draw a shape on a layer where I have 2 pads in the GND net, I setup the shape like this 

But the shape is avoiding the pads in that same Gnd net.   Notice that I draw 2 traces before with vias to a Gnd layer and the shape is indeed attaching to these but not the pads. 

Am I missing something that I need to setup, to have the shape to cover all the area I want?

    What is your shape setting for SMD pads? It can be set globally or locally on a shape. Make sure it is set to direct connect otherwise Allegro will attempt to connect only via thermal relief traces.

    If you select "Pin" and then Edit|Properties, you will find a setting "Dyn_Thermal_Con_Type". This can be assigned to "Full Contact" and then, the pad/pin will make a full connect to the shape (if on the same net of course) regardless of any global thermal relief setting. Note that this can be done already when creating a footprint such as a mounting hole, or a footprint type TO-220 where the tab should be fastened to a plane using screws.

    You don't really need the connect lines from the SMT pads to the vias any longer. Why don't you play around with the other DYN properties for pins to see how you can control things? For instance. If your pad was 10 mils wide you could attach thermal width = 10 property to the pad and Min connections = 1 along with Orthagonal thermal type and the shape would be relieved back from the pins some with two 10 mil webs. You could then adjust those numbers to get what you want. Some assy vendors don't like the solid copper shapes to encroach on the pads. Lots of different things. As long as you pull the shape outline back beyond the pins connect points you should be ok.
