Library Management, collaboration of symbols and footprints

Hi Cadence Experts.

I been using Cadence PCB Editor for  years for board layout but with recent development, i need to cater footprint and symbol creation, schematic entry  as well.

I do not know where to start like.

1. How will the geometry(design entry use) will link to the footprint(PCB editor)? what files or paths do i need to set up?

2. What are the parameters needed to insure i can use the latest version from the central library rather than the ones present in my board.?

3. Can you please help what other files path are needed to be properly set up in order for the  process to run smoothly.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    I have the central library located on a server drive and mapped: Z:\Cad_Library.
    For the other information, have you downloaded the Allegro Starter Library? You will probably have to contact Allegro support for the download information, but it has all the .prt, .cds examples layed out perfectly so it makes sense going forward. I know the standard installed librarys do not have the part table for each part and the symbols and pad stacks are mixed.

    schematic symbols, PCB footprints, padstacks, component properties and supplied PDF datasheets. It is
    designed for new customers who are evaluating or implementing a Cadence PCB flow or wishing to build a fully
    compatible library for use with the Allegro® family of PCB design tools.
    Each part number consists of all necessary files and information to support use with the following Allegro®
    family of PCB design tools:
    Allegro® Design Entry HDL
    Allegro® Design Entry CIS
    Allegro® PCB Editor
    Allegro® Design Workbench.
    For information on specifications used in the development of this library, please refer to the ‘Allegro® DE-HDL
    Schematic Symbol - Sample Specification Download’ and the ‘Allegro® PCB Footprint - Sample Specification
    Download’ also located on the Allegro® Downloads site.

    customized parts can be created. The library itself is provided as a zipped archive, with installation and usage
