Hierarcical schematics, step and repeat layout 17.2 Allegro

First design with Allegro 17.2. I have a schematic with 3 sheets of hierarchical design. My customer wants me to lay out one sheet, and use it to drive the other 2 sheets to be identical in the layout. Can anyone give me direction?

I would use the 'Place Replicate' feature.  To do that, follow the basic steps below (there are probably better, more complete and detailed instructions on Cadence Support, but these are the basics):

    1. Create your layout for your first sheet.
    2. Make sure that you are in Placement Edit mode (I think this works in General Edit, but I've always done it in Placement Edit)
    3. Select all of the components on the sheet
    4. Right-click and select Place Replicate Create
    5. It will ask you to select any additional features, etch, components, etc.  When complete, select 'Done'
    6. Pick an origin of the grouping
    7. Then save the .mdd file somewhere. (You now have a Placement Replicate File)
    8. Make sure all components are put down on the circuit board (I just use quickplace and put them off to one side of the board)
    9. Select the components
    10. Right-click and use 'Place Replicate apply' either browse to the .mdd file or it will pull up (depending on your path variables and where you saved the file)
    11. Follow the instructions on how to map components to each other.
    12. Once components are mapped, it will place the components on your cursor for placement in the layout.

The mapping function is probably the trickiest.  If you use some sort of Ref Des to drive which sheet it's coming from, that might be easier, but it's not always what can be done. (i.e. it would be great if a capacitor in the same function on each sheet was like C1xx, C2xx and C3xx on the three sheets).
