Why do some properties not get transferred to the schematic from the library part?

I'm fairly new at OrCAD Capture, and maybe I'm going about things wrong.  In any case I'm trying to build up a library that contains the complete information for the parts I use in my designs.  What I find is that when I then place the parts on a schematic page, there are properties that I added to the library part that don't make it into the schematic.  For example, I find that I can add the property "PCB Footprint" to the part in the library and assign it a value like "SOT-23".  Then I place the part in the schematic and I see that the value for PCB Footprint is blank in the schematic instance.  Is this a normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?  If it is normal behavior, then what's the right way to save complete components including all required properties so they can be re-used in another design?

In the specific case of "PCB Footprint", that is a Package property, Options>Package Properties with the Part open in the Library, so you would only need to specify the value and not add the property. If you added the property through Options>Part Properties, that might well explain why you get an empty property (because the Package Property is still blank)
