Symbol and layer embedding requirements do not match.

If I copy a component in PCB I cannot swap it with the component I copied.

ie Copy R12 I get R* place it on the card then Place>Swap>Components I get the error message

"Symbol and layer embedding requirements do not match"

    I have this error too and am trying DBDoctoring the component.

    Check for any Embedded Property and Alternate symbol property mismatch for both the components. Also if you are on SPB 16.6 release , update to latest hotfix and recheck this issue.

    I got it to work with doing a *.pad fix with the db doctor tool, the padstack were too old and couldn't be opened individually. I place and the footprints look great.
