Hi,

Last post regarding the same was about 4 years ago. Are there any products from cadence which covers Schematic Capture and PCB Layout which works in Linux ? If available, how can I get a trial version  ?

Not exactly an answer to your question but: If you get such a version, know then that only SUSE or RedHat was supported when we tried to install a full version some years ago. Not even Fedora worked. If you want to use it with eg. Ubuntu I doubt that it will work.

Most commerical vendors, if at all they support Linux, it will usually be RHEL or suse. I wont be surprised. But how was your experience? Is it exactly the same Windows version? What were your reasons to go with Linux version ?

We tried installing it to a Fedora system (which is the free but unsupported version of RedHat) but failed. Installing Redhat was no option for my co-worker.

Fedora is pretty bleeding edge, and is not binary compatible with RHEL. But CentOS is. Any software that works on Rhel must work on Centos as well, since they only differ in branding. Everything else as far as a software that runs on it is concerned, is the same. If you or your co worker feels like giving Linux env another shot, please try the corresponding CentOS release. Usually software on linux is much more snappier, which is the reason why I would prefer Linux.

    Ah...

    Downloaded the 17.20 Linux Version.

    We'll give it a try.
