How to remove unused parts from an Allegro 16.6 PCB file

I have an Allegro PCB Editor file that has a mechanical part that was added but then not used.

But the IPC output refuses to complete because this unused part still exists in the PCB editor file database, even though it is not used. Dbdoctor refuses to remove the part! How can I clean up the Allegro PCB Editor database file to only have used parts stored?

I might be missing something...but can't you just delete the unwanted part?

The part was selected for inclusion in a design and placed on the design. But then it was deleted as it was the wrong item.

The part no longer appears on the design but is still loaded in the database as library parts are copied to the design database.

It is the fact the party is still loaded in the database that is causing us issues when generating IPC outputs. We need to PURGE the database of all unused parts but there is no method to do this!

So was this part in the schematic? If so, delete from there and recreate and import the netlist into Allegro and it will be gone. If you can't do that (and that is the recommended way) try Logic - Part Logic (you will need to enable this) and locate the part there and delete it.

The part is a Mechanical Part and not in the Schematic.

Then use Edit - Delete and remove it. Make sure it's not fixed. If you can't do this try a DBDoctor
