CIS database -> Error(ORCIS-6245): Database Operation Failed

Hi, I am having some trouble with my CIS database in Orcad. After opening the CIS Explorer and then click on a part I get the error below. After clicking OK in the dialog box I am able to place the part and everything looks ok. But the dialog box pops up each time I click on a part in CIS Explorer.

We are using CIP-E. I get the impression that this occured after I was changing the database views in CIP-E web interface.

Dialog box error:

Error(ORCIS-6245): Database Operation Failed

Please check Session for more details

Session log details:

ODBC Error Description: State:37000,Native:156,Origin:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]
State:37000,Native:8180,Origin:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]
ERROR(ORCIS-6245): Database Operation Failed
Please Check Session For More Details
ERROR(ORCIS-6250): ODBC Error Code: -1
Description: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'WHERE'.
Statement(s) could not be prepared.

I found this on web, but can't really relate it to Orcad/CIS etc.

This error always means that the DBC file that maps the database fields to Capture CIS properties does not match the database that the datasource is linked to. You need to rebuild the DBC file to reflect the current database to correct this issue. If you have updated the CIP components, you will need to use the latest DBC file provided in Configuration Files, if you have made some custom changes to the database, you will need to use the CIS Configuration in Capture CIS to build a new DBC file and specify the mapping (Typically not required for a CIP installation)

Thanks a lot for quick answer!

It might be that I have been a bit too creative here; I have renamed databases, changed the Views in CIP-E etc. so most likely things are out of sync.

We currently have a working CIP-E database, but would like to make a new one(restructure mappings, new fields etc). The problem is that I am not able to make Cadence CIP Database Setup  work. This is supposed to initialize a new database for use with CIP-E. It says that our database is too old(see error below). Due to this problem I have cloned the current database, emptied it in SQL Management studio etc. In this process thing have come out of sync I guess.

I have not been able to find Cadence CIP Database Setup on Cadence.com. The version we have is 17.2.0.11, but this seems to not work with our database. Are there other versions available?

This implies that you are running an SQL Server version earlier than 2008? The Cadence Downloads site does not have downloads for any of the 17.2 add-on products, they are only available from the Download Manager application. The current version of the CIP components is 17.2 5.19, since you haven't made much progress, you should remove anything that you currently have installed, it doesn't sound like you have the database but you might want to delete anything that is there and then start from scratch with the latest CIP components.

Thanks, I used Download manager and found the latest version of the CIP applications. Then I was able to initialize a brand new CIP_E database.

But after re-mapping in CIS configuration(DBC) and changing the views in CIP-E web interface(basically enabling some of the UserFields, the rest is default) I still get the: 'Error(ORCIS-6245): Database Operation Failed' when clicking on the parts in CIS explorer. Is this mapping very sensitive in the sense that all tables need to be 100% mapped? Until now I have only mapped Capacitors - and I also have only capacitors(a few) in my database so far.

I would say that you need to have all of the tables mapped correctly since a search could be "anywhere" in the database, it might be better to start with one of the provided DBC files and modify that through the CIS Configuration Setup, the CIP-E database has a number of "internal" tables that CIS doesn't need to know about.
