OrCad Capture 16.3: "No signals Present"

When I was trying to edit an older design which my senior had done. When I right click on any Netname, Aliases or Offpage connectors and selecting 'signals' to see where it is routed it was throwing a dialogue box trowing "No Signal Present". But in the older design file signal tracing is working properly. the older design had different values in instances and occurrences of almost all the components, so i manually copied all the occurrences to instances (This is the only difference from old board and new board). What can be the problem and how can i resolve it?
