Symbol not found in PSMPATH or must be "dbdoctor"ed.

Hi there, 

I am working on a schematic of a new PCB that I am designing. I am fairly new to PCB Editor, and am using Capture for the schematics. There's a part that I am using (a 200-pin connector) which is a card-edge connector. I haven't been able to find a footprint for it online, so I went ahead and created my own. However, after assigning this footprint to the part, I get the warning message: "Symbol not found in PSMPATH or must be "dbdoctor"ed." 

I know this is a duplicate issue, but I have already tried the solutions on the other ones (ran DB Doctor and it finished with no errors, but that didn't fix my problem when generating a netlist). I was wondering if maybe there's something wrong with my footprint. This is my first post on this Blog, and so am not sure what the protocol is. 

I am attaching the footprint that I built, along with the connector it should mount on. If any relevant information is missing, or if I can clarify anything else, please let me know. 

Note: I am using Cadence 17.2

    I think your only problem is you need to make sure Allegro/Orcad is looking for your footprint in the correct directory.

    >Edit >User preferences> Paths> Library> psmpath>.  You should see a list of directories Allegro knows to look in.   My guess is the footprint is in the same directory as your pcb file, in which case, PSMpath needs to have '.' or the dot for your current directory.

    Same problem could happen with Padpath for the padstacks.

    Just an update on this, the reason isn't the directory. 

    In fact, my problem was that the footprint I was using was not being viewed as a footprint by the program, and that is because I hadn't assigned padstacks to the pins on the connector. Rookie move, I know.
