Primary receiver during differential TL simulation

archive
archive over 19 years ago

Hi,
I am simulating differential (coupled) line with one transmitter & 3 receivers.
After giving "Signal Simulate" it is asking me to select primary receiver.

My question is does it have any internal impact if I will select different each time.
(Personally I selected different at each time but unable to find the difference!)

There is no different from the simulation point of view. The reason for that is to have measurement report for you automatically. System needs to know which driver and reciever you are focusing on.
    Hopt his helps.

If there is no difference simulation point of view then why system needs to know our focus?
Also please clarify which report you are talking about.

    Thanks
    Naren

Measurement report under Sigxp canvas needs to know which one you want to measure. however, you have an option to have all the receivers being measured in preference.

    Naren,

If you are using the automated measurements to extract and calculate a timing or voltage at a particular receiver, then you need to tell the tool which receiver to focus on.  The fact that the tool always asks you and doesn't give you the chance to reply "I don't really care which receiver is used" is an odd quirk that we've learned to live with.  Just click on one so the tool can go forward.

    Hope that helps,
    Donald
