Cadence Orcad/Allegro SPB 17.2 Release

Hello,

Excuse my question, I am new to PCB Design.

Is the Cadence SPB / OrCAD 17.2 release one that includes BOTH OrCAD and Allegro of Cadence PCB software ?

I want to use Allegro not ORCAD.

I would like to purchase Allegro but I only see this Cadence/OrCAD 17.2 SPB release on the Cadence website.

Can someone let me know - if I purchase this SPB release do I get BOTH OrCAD and Allegro ?

Thank you.

The "Release" is "everything" SPB 17.2. What you can use from the Release is controlled by the license that is purchased. Typically the OrCAD branded licenses would be purchased from a Cadence Channel Partner and the Allegro branded licenses would be purchased directly from Cadence but that isn't always the case. The Allegro executable is what runs for PCB Editor, and other physical layout products, you get different capabilities licensed for OrCAD PCB Editor and Allegro PCB Editor, the most significant difference being that OrCAD PCB Editor functionality is licensed "as one", whereas the Allegro PCB Editor has additional licensed options. The PCB Designer suites include a schematic entry license. You should discuss your requirements with sales to ensure that you get licenses for the required product capabilities.

    Thank you for your message.

This is what I had assumed - all the software is packaged together and the licensing determines the capability and availability of the software you can use.
