board geometry

Using 17.2

I created my board outline using class/subclass 'Board Geometry/Outline'.  When i create artwork is tells me that the preferred sub class is 'Design_Outline'.  How do i change the subclass?  If i select the outline, and use change class/subclass, 'Design_Outline' is not listed.  Both 'design_outline' and 'outline' appear in the color dialog under 'Geometry'

Thanks

Right click shape -> "Copy to Layers..." -> Board Geometry -> Design_Outline

    Click "Copy", then "Done"

    Then delete the old shape.

If you'd ask me, there should be a property dialog box for each shape where class / subclass, fill type etc. can be selected.

When in 'shape edit' mode, i dont see option of 'copy to layers' after right clicking on selected outline. I get options like 'expand/contract' 'move' 'copy' etc.

At this point i have already created 'Design_outline' over the original 'outline' and have deleted 'outline' but would expect the same command that you noted to apply.

If that doesn't work, try Z-copy from the Shape menu..

It seems like you're not allowed to perform certain actions on shapes depending on their type (unfilled, static solid, dynamic copper), that might be it.. I find it useful to keep a copy of the board outline on another layer as an "unfilled" type for reference in case I screw up something and need a fresh copy of the outline.

When you create your gerbers with the 'old standard' Board Outline, it only states the Board Outline thingie as a 'warning'. I ALWAYS disregard this. It's only a warning, and the gerbers are generated correctly. FYI - I do utilize the newer 'Design Outline' features, but I still have Board Outline layer too. Dimensioning doesn't work effectively with Design Outline, that's why I also use Board Outline. But, again - it's just a 'warning'. Disregard it.
