Rename part property names in Orcad Capture

StenS

I use OrCad CIS for my schematics, but now have a schematic where the property names (not value) does not match the standard names.

I could create a new DB connectors, but would prefer to rename the properties to my "standard".

To make matters worse, the property I use as key in the CIS lookup is one of the properties I would like to change.

There are 400+ parts in the schematic, so I would prefer a programmatic way.

Example:

Part Number -> PARTNUMBER

Manufacturer -> MFG

    I think there is an "update properties" mechanism from an update file (*.UPD)

    From the 17.2 helpfile.

    When backannotating from PCB Editor, an update value of "/IGNORE/" is interpreted as a property that is not to be updated. When "/IGNORE/" is found, the property in the schematic unchanged from it's previous value. For example, in the following line, the "TOL" property will not be updated for the part with a reference of "U1".

    "{Part Reference}" "TOL"

    "R1" "10%"

    "U1" "/IGNORE/"

    You can update properties of parts in libraries as well as update properties of parts in designs.

    there's also an export and import lurking in the Tools> menu (context-sensitive menu:  project manager, project selected in the list).

    I still do it the ol' fashion way - Select all the components per page; edit properties; create my new property (PARTNUMBER); copy all the PART NUMBER lines and paste them into the new property. Takes a bit of time, but 400+ parts isn't a lot. 2500+ parts I might have an issue. Good day.
