PCB Editor 17.2-2016 s055 crashing without error

I am having an error when I select certain setup functions such as cross-section, constraint manager, color, etc. I get an error saying

"Program has encountered a problem and must exit. The design will be saved as a .SAV file that can be recovered using dbdoctor (if applicable). To resolve problem, first obtain the latest software update from Cadence and if the problem persists contact Cadence Customer Support..."

I have contacted customer support but they have not been able to resolve the issue.  Please let me know if you have encountered and issue similar to this, as I cannot add layers to my pcb design and need to get this solved.

Thanks

Specific design: Tools>Database Check (Tools>Database Check for "legacy" menus) with all of the options set. "any" design: try starting allegro (PCB Editor) from a Command window with the allegro -safe and / or allegro -noopengl options to eliminate any customisation and graphics drivers, Delete the allegro.geo file from the pcbenv folder to reset the window positions.
