Disregard DFA Place Boundry in DFA Constraints during placement/moving

Hi,

I have an issue. The library I inherited has both DFA Placement Boundry (e.g. old days PADS courtyards approach), and the typical PLACE BOUNDRY/TOP or BOTTOM. The PLACE BOUNDRY is based on MAX true component size. I have my constraints set for PART/PART clearance (e.g. say 10mils between components, irregardless of the pads. All my constraints are based on how close assembly will allow parts. It seems that the DFA Constraints utilize the DFA Placement Boundy, not the PLACE BOUND top/bottom. Is there a way, aside from deleting the DFA Place Boundries, to get the DRC to only use the PLACE BOUNDRY?

I'm pretty sure Package to Package DRCs only look at Place Boundary polygons.

Orcad doesn't have DFA.  There has to be commonality between it and Allegro.

EMA's EDABuilder includes Place Boundary and DFA boundary polygons.  That's probably why you have both.

Not using OrCAD, and I've always depended on Placement DRC automation. It's so simple if done correctly. Our library was built by ol' PADs-type folks and don't realize the importance of Placement  DRC capability set up correctly. The ol' placement courtyards were fine when you wanted a 'visual' indicator, but doesn't work when you're placing 01005, 0201, 0402, 0603 devices and you can space them closer or further apart based on body size. Grrr, Looks like I'll just delete the courtyards and continue on. Thanks.
