hello

how can i create a shortcut key using the "Alt" key?

i do know how to use the "shift" and "ctrl" keys by the following reference.

http://referencedesigner.com/tutorials/allegro/allegro_page_29.php

also is there any way i can create a shortcut key using "Shift+Ctrl" together?

I can help you with the hotkey using the shift key. Just assign your keys using uppercase "A, B. etc". So, to toggle your assigned key commands. Do a shift plus your assigned uppercase key.  The caps lock will work too without shifting.

thank you for your reply, dale.

can you please give me an example?

for instance, i created a shortcut key on the env file as follow:

    alias SF1 gloss param

this one uses the Shift+F1 key.

how can i change it using the "Alt+F1" key and "Shift+Ctrl+F1" key?

The Allegro documentation only mention the Shift, Ctrl & combined Shift-Ctrl modifiers, based on the legacy tool from what Allegro was created from I'm guessing Alt is not supported

My example for you -- funckey x  delete. A very simple one too. So whatever is selected I just hit "x" and it's deleted. If you what it assigned to  upper case "X" instead.  The assignment would be-- funckey X  delete. In this case you would need to click shift+ the x key.  For me lowercase key assignments are better. More of a pain to hit 2 keys to do the job. When it comes to key assignments for me again. I prefer to assign commands I use very often on keys right under my left hand. With the mouse in the right hand and commands in you left you can really fly. Reaching across the keyboard to locate the Function keys may slow you down. Use function keys on commands used less frequent my suggestion to you.

    Cheers
