Issue with capture responding to mouse (17.2 S042)

I have this odd problem that capture gets into on my design.  It will be working fine and then all of a sudden I can't click on a component or wire with my mouse.  I can select it by holding down the left button and drawing a box around it, but I can't select it by just clicking on it.  Even large items like components, so I don't think it has to do with being in the right spot of the item to be selected.  It most of the time gets out of this mode if I get totally out of the program and restart it, but not always.

Has anybody else run into this?  I am running version 17.2, service pack 042.

I haven't experienced those problems.   Make sure your drivers are up to date.  Input device and graphics.

Good IT departments let me supply a Logitech gamer mouse.

The freebie mice that come with the machine won't survive long (ever used P*DS without squeezing the mouse to death?  Yeah, me neither...)

On a funny note, decades ago, someone noted that GTCO digitizer pucks hold up well against being hurled at walls...  for layout specialized workstations covered by maintenance contracts.

    Never tried that (O_o).

I'm currently using 16.6 (seen it on 16.x and 17.2) and have issues over the years with this type of issue. I've sort just accepted it.  I click on something in the schematic - it's like the mouse click didn't occur.  It happens on selection and the right click pull down menu (especially irritating try to ascend hierarchy).  It just goes away after a few seconds.  Independent of the mouse, or hotfix.  I've always blamed it on the stupid IT back ground stuff.  Disappointed Slight smile

Oh, crossprobing.  I don't get to use that very often.

If Orcad CIS is the front-end, try Ctrl-I and simplify the select filter.
