Changing Line Width of a Trace in a Net without DRC Errors

Hi,

I would like to know a way to change the line width of a trace within a larger net without DRC errors.

I have a net with 100mil line width assigned to it. There are several traces branching off from this main 100mil line that I want only 8mil thick (e.g. pull-up resistors/decoupling caps). When I manually change the line width for these traces (and they are long traces), I get millions of L><W error markers on them. Is there a proper way to do this in OrCAD PCB Designer Standard 17.2 version (and I am new to it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    HI TC

There are a couple of ways that this can be done.

Open the constraint manager and expand the Physical Tab. Under that you will see "NET" all layers, if you click on all layers you will see all the nets in your design.

Find the net of interest in the table and assign it a "Min and max Line width", If you just set the minimum line width and leave the max line width empty when you go to route the net whatever line width you assigned will be the default. Just click in the cell and type in the number.

For your particular requirement you would want the min line width to be 8 and the max to be 100 or you can just leave the 100 out and then it can be made as large as you want.

    All the best.
