Capacitive Touch Button

Hi all,

I am trying to make a footprint for a simple capacitive touch button with a via pin. I made a circular shape on the top plane and added the pin but I am getting DRC error: thru pin to shape spacing.

I tried editing the constraint value to 0, and also tried a connector with a via instead, but I need the via to be my pin and I can't get rid of the DRC error.

Can someone please help me out?

I think I found the problem, though I don't know why it happens. When I edit a pad and save it under the same name of the previous pad (replacing it), PCB editor does not update its library. Even if I close PCB Editor and open it again. It only worked when I created a new shape, new pad, and new footprint.

Thank you so much for your help.

Because all elements of a symbol are cached in the board file.  You must explicitly update the padstacks and/or symbols when  a change is made to them.  Just part of the learning curve.

    That makes sense! Thank you!

Hi, Did you try just waving the DRC in the library editor and save?  By doing this your part can be placed on the board without the DRC's showing up. I know for sure that this works fine when you add an SMD pin over copper. However, I'm not totally sure this approach would work with a Thru- hole pin  setup. Because I've never done it. But, you should give it a shot.

    Cheers

Hi. I tried it, and it waved the DRC. But could this bring any problems during manufacturing?
