BUG - Allegro PCB Editor - Board 3D STEP model

Good morning, I have recently found an apparent bug in Allegro PCB Designer 17.2 with HF 059.

As per new 17.2, board outline has to be designed on layer Design_Outline in Board_Geometry. For annotation/guide I use layer Outline to first import DXF and then compose a shape on Design_Outline from Outline layer.

This is working ok in terms of showing 3D model inside Allegro by clicking 3D button. But when I export STEP Model from File menu, not only Design_Outline is exported but also Outline layer, producing an wrong STEP file.

Hope this get's fixed in the new HF 060.

Kind regards

Have you reported this to Cadence, or through your Channel Partner? This forum is not a place to post issues you have found with the tools with the hope of anyone fixing them.

But, I have designs that spent years in 16.6.  I don't know if you want to break something customers have been relying on.

(Now, Allegro SIP complains when you use the outline layer every time you make artwork.)

I reported this in October 2018 CASE 46317084. Remove the outline from the original outline layer so that is only exists on the new design_outline subclass. That should fix it. Be aware, there are other exports that are also still broken, they do not use the design_outline subclass either.

I did search for a good place to post the bug, but after searching I couldn't find the proper place to post it. Could you please give me the link/details to do this? Also, I've noticed that Adrian Hobbs, down here, reported this in October 2018, but maybe this would lead to a final fixing.

Thanks Adrian, I already did that as I supposed that was causing the problem. The thing is that if they claim that you have to use Desing_Outline, they should care about any potential issues by letting the user to work on Outline layer too.
