Hand tool in Allegro Design Entry CIS

The middle mouse button can be used to pan in a schematic page, but I find it slow and not very accurate. Is there a way to change the behavior so that it behaves like the hand tool in for example Acrobat Reader?

In the PCB Editor there's a preference (designhdl_pan) for setting this behavior. Is there a similar option in ADE CIS?

Hopefully you know where your "env" file is?  It should be the PROJECT directory.  Open it and add the following lines.  This will give the "fast" middle mouse behavior.

    button wheel_up "roam y -$roamInc"
    button wheel_down "roam y $roamInc"
    button Cwheel_up "window in"
    button Cwheel_down "window out"
    button SCwheel_up "roam x -$roamInc"
    button SCwheel_down "roam x $roamInc"

Not sure what you mean by the PROJECT directory. I know about the env file in the HOME directory (C:\Cadence\Settings\username\pcbenv), but that only applies to the PCB editor and not to Capture. Right?

Sorry, I map my HOME to PROJECT...so that said, my answer was for the Allegro side and it does not apply to Capture.  I have never seen a way to implement the fast panning in OrCAD unfortunately.

Ok, I see. So, any Cadence employee reading this, please implement fast panning!
