How to customize the columns in OrCAD property editor

I've always been frustrated when editing fields in the part property editor screen.  I tend to get schematics generated by several people over time and the parts have many unnecessary part fields.  This creates over 30 columns of info in the part property editor screen and I really only want to see about 9 while looking for errors.  Any editing I do of the display of columns to customize to my needs does not "stick".  That is they revert back to default as soon as I edit fields.  Very frustrating.

I've tried playing with the obvious, like the Display button (generates an error message) and trying to move/shrink the columns.  I can't easily delete any of the unneeded fields.  Nothing works or sticks.

What does the community recommend on making the part property editor screen more usable?

I find that it is easiest to edit the prefprop.txt file then use the "Filter by:" dropdown menu which defaults to <Current properties> but you can
also add a new filter by clicking in the header of any column and selecting Filters>Add filter.

Thanks for replying.  I did not know you could do that, nor did I know about prefprop.txt.  Your answer pointed me in just the right direction.
