Text on Manufacturing/Properties layer

We use the above layer to put text from the schematic for connectors, LED's, jumpers. We go to Check-Properties-Graphics and select Valuename and sometimes Valuename2. We change the text block to match what the size of other silk screen ref des are. Then select create, it then tells us how many instances it just created. We turn on the Properties box under Manufacturing and make the color to match our existing silk screen color.

The added text normally comes in tied to pin one of the connectors or cathode of LED's. We then move the text to the outside of the connector outline or just above the LED ref des. The problem is that we have 2 other designers and when they generate this text it create 2 sets of text. One placed on pin one of connectors, cathode of LED's and a second set at the origin 0,0 of the board. We have looked to see if something is checked or not checked on the one computer that only generates the one set. We haven't found any settings different between the 3 computers. All are running the same version of hot fixes, 17.2 S060.

We can work around the problem by deleting the second set at the origin but would like to be able to only create one set on all of the computers.

  • Well just guessing here. The problem I believe is in the library parts on the board side. Bring a one of you parts in the library editor. Turn on all layers to see everything built into your parts. There should be only two text strings showing. One for the "ref" and one for the value name. For all others, delete them.
