A question about SKILL

archive over 20 years ago

Hello,
I am a jackeroo on creating programs by using SKILL language.
When I try to run a SKILL example called "axlform.il" which is in the Allegro 14.2 installation path, Allegro lists an error by using a string like the following:
"E-*Error* axlFormDisplay: argument #1 should be an "other" atom (type template = "o")-nil".
I can not understand what this error message means. Please experts help me. Thanks a lot!

Tom

I'm not a SKILL expert, but Sourcelink solution 1841014 may help you.

    Thank you!
But I can not find the solution you mentioned. I inputted ""1841014"" into the ""Search for"" edit box and clicked the ""search"" button in SourceLink, but SourceLink told me that it found nothing.
Could you tell me the solution's title or some words of the title?

    Tom

    Tom,

Hmmm ... I entered 1841014 in the ""Search for:"" field and
I received this one result -

""Error When Running Skill On The Windows Platform.""

You may need to open up the ""Search Within"" filters and use ""All Supported Releases"" and ""All Document Types"". Also, the Products choice value may need to be adjusted.

Regardless, try entering some/all of the words in the phrase above.

Here's the content for Solution #1841014:

    -----

E- *Error* axlFormDisplay: argument #1 should be an ""other"" atom (type
    template = ""o"") - nil

    *Problem Statement:

When trying the run a Skill program, in this case find_dlines.il (which finds the Dangling
Lines in a database), you may see the above Error.

For additional information concerning this refer to solution:# 1816559

Check for \tmp on the Drive where the *.brd files are, that didn't help.

    *Solution:

In this case the problem was the FORMPATH statement. The FORMPATH didn't have
a ""."" at the begin for the local directory, so when the Skill program ran it
couldn't find the *.form file to create the form in Allegro.
