Dynamic planes not updating

archive
archive over 20 years ago

To all:

I know this question has been asked before, but I can't remember the solution.

I have a dynamic shape. I have applied text to that dynamic shape and specified a 125 mil clearance in the dynamic shape property menu for text to shape.

The problems is that no mater what I try the shape doesn't seem to be updating to reflect that clearance

Any suggestions?

I am running 15.1 s039

Does your shape show up to date from the Setup > Drawing Options menu? If not, click on the "Update to Smooth" button and that should update the shape with clearance from the text.

Yes it does! It shows that all 5 shapes are up to date. The intersting thing is that even know I have specified a clearance in the DRC and the shape constraints, when I look at a report about the DRC the correct constraint shows up but the actual value is zero, even though I have updated all shapes.

This board was originally layed out in 14.2 and upreved to 15.1. All shapes were converted from static to dynamic. Could this be part of the problem?

Check your layer stackup (Setup > Cross-section) to see if this is a positive or negative plane. If negative, change to positive and run update to smooth.

Other suggestions - run DBdoctor (Tools > Database check) and/or install the latest 15.1 ISR ~ s050.

We had the same problem in a layout that was uprev'ed from a 14.x to 15.1

Turn on all layers to see if there are any ""Boundaries"" that's not supposed to be there. Once we managed to get rid of them and after having DB-Doctor'ed the board the problem was gone.

There is a feature called raise priority in v15.2
Right click after picking the shape to get it.
