"Tips from Cadence" deselecting elements

archive
archive over 20 years ago

Many new users are unaware of the ability to deselect an item from those that have been selected in such commands as delete, copy, move etc. If you want to act upon an area that contains many elements but would like to deselect a few, use the following steps...

o Edit - Delete
o popup menu - select Temp Group
o draw a window around the area
o using the left mouse button and the control key select those elements you wish to deselect. You may deselect them individually or by drawing a window. Just make sure that you are holding the control key down while deselecting.
o after you are satisfied with the selected elements (those which are highlighted), choose Complete from the popup menu and then Done from the popup menu.

Please note that deselecting will not work if you select by window to begin with. You must use the Temp Group option from the popup menu.
