"Tips from Cadence" manually editing your env file

Users that want to set certain Allegro variables themselves in their pcbenv/env file, often find them not getting set as expected after they start Allegro. The reason for this is most likely due to the fact that the same variable is also set below the computer generated section below. If, for example, you have set PSMPATH above and below this section, you will notice that the one below the computer generated section takes precedence since it is read in after the manually edited section. [b][u]Therefore, make sure that any manual edits you perform are done above the computer generated section and that a duplicate is not below the computer generated section.[/u][/b] You may check what the variable ends up being set too, after starting Allegro, by selecting the List All button under Setup -> User Preferences.
