Back drilling

I have a request to add an additional blind drill to many through hole pin locations on a connector. Is it possible to have 2 drill locations in the same location at the same time?

  • I don't have any experience with back drilling, but since no one else has responded I'll try. You can either replace the through hole padstacks with blind padstacks or actually add a larger blind via defined on certain layers where the orginal padstack exists. So to answer your question, 'yes', but I would suggest contacting your fab house for details. You may also want to do a Google search for info about back drilling since it's a fairly new process.
